I felt it was time to spruce up my now rather ageing Toyota Aygo car, and this colourful seat cover set from the Chinese markeyplace TEMU seemed a good way of doing so without spending too much money. I paid just over £25 with free shipping for the full 5 seat set. As with all Temu and AliExpress products, prices and sellers change all the time, so shop around to get the best buy.

The set arrived in a plain and unbranded plastic bag, inside of which were the seat covers and a simple single sheet fitting guide. I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the covers, which are brightly but accurately coloured, stretchy and with elasticated bands to secure the covers in place and taut. The front seat covers feature soft inner short tubes inside the material , which I think are to secure the front of each cover and maintain the seam between the seat and the backrest. The rear seat set comes with separate upper and lower seat covers as well as three headrest covers. The front covers extend up and over the headrests.

Fitting was easy enough if you have fitted covers before. The user guide is not really much use, but it is not rocket science and you cannot really get it wrong. The only tricky part is feeding the elasticated securing loops under the seats and fixing them together. I would advise using some sort of a hook on a stick to facilitate this, as well as velcro or ziplock ties to secure them as the plastic ties supplied are not much use. Make sure you push the tubes inside the front seat covers tightly between the seat and backrests to ensure a tight fit and to avoid wrinkles. You may have to use your own initiative to tuck and tie the covers in place for a seamless fit. Unlike some other seat covers I have used, these ones have no side access slits on the front covers, which may mean that accessing the seat rake adjustment lever may be tricky. Also, there are no openings for the headrest mounts on the rear seats, so you will have to cut them yourself, as you may also have to do to accommodate the rear seat belt buckles. As should in fairness say that these would be issues with any universal fit seat cover set.

On my Toyota Aygo, these covers fit OK - sort of - but not perfectly, but with some nips and tucks I could probably get it better. The material, although very attractive and thicker than I expected, does not seem waterproof to me (although I have not put it to the test), so take care with that. These covers are for looks and design rather than for heavy duty protection, but they will guard against dirt and minor spills. Plus, when properly fitted, they would look rather good.

All in all, for the price, I think this is a pretty good buy.
