I was watching Lyle Caldwell doing his live podcast the other night. I asked him something like:
"Fender Twin Reverb Ultra-Linear. Best amp ever. Prove me wrong!" and ended with "lol" as I often do to denote a vague sense of casual mirth.

This seemed to trigger poor Lyle into a frenzy. A small scale one. Maybe frenzy is too strong.
Anyway he didn't answer my question and seemed more interested in this common internet acronym and he didn't seem to like it. I would have typed lol here but that seems inappropriate now.

So, I will back up my assertion with a video comparing my 1978 Twin Reverb with an amp that is considered one of the classic modern amps - the Two Rock Classic Reverb. Both set clean, clean, clean!

There is no other amp like the last of the real Fender Twin Reverbs. It was as costly as the Two Rock is today and was the pinnacle of the attempt to wrest as much clean volume out of a quad of 6L6GC valves. It was a pro stage amps at the time that real amps were still allowed and volume was not an issue. It isn't back friendly and with its replacement EV 12L speakers, I can barely lift it!

But if you want clean and enough ooomph behind it to drown out a 100 Watt Marshall JCM800, this is the King of Amps™
