In 2023 we attended The Parliament of the World’s Religions which was held in Chicago that year. One of the workshops we attended was titled, “Sacramental Plants and Fungi: Historical and Scientific Insights for the Religious Life.” One of the speakers was Franciscan Priest, Richard Rohr who elevated the use of psilocybin (Magic Mushrooms) to being a sacrament in the church. There is currently a growing movement pushing to enhance religion through psychedelic science.
