The Jewish Feast of Trumpets in 2025 will be observed from sunset on September 22nd to sunset on September 24th and there is renewed speculation by the usual Rapture entertainment suspects that this year the Rapture of the Church could take place during this feast. The internet has become abuzz with sensationalistic articles and videos speculating about this possible occurrence. One often-heard talking point in favor of this idea is the claim that Jesus's mention that "no man knows the day or hour" (Mt. 24:36) is actually a well-known ancient Jewish idiom that referred to the Feast of Trumpets. In other words, the claim is that this phrase by Jesus actually signals to us in a sort of "code language" that the Rapture will take place on a Feast of Trumpets. Is this factual? What evidence is there to support this? Is date-setting a biblical practice? What does "watching" mean in eschatological contexts? What is the biblical teaching regarding the Lord's coming, and how are believers instructed to await this event? How have date-setting attempts worked out so far down through history? We discuss all of that and much more in this video!
