Gameplay Part 1

The genre-defining masterpiece Resident Evil 2 returns, completely rebuilt from the ground up for a deeper narrative experience. Using Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine, Resident Evil 2 offers a fresh take on the classic survival horror saga with breathtakingly realistic visuals, heart-pounding immersive audio, a new over-the-shoulder camera, and modernized controls on top of gameplay modes from the original game.

In Resident Evil 2, the classic action, tense exploration, and puzzle solving gameplay that defined the Resident Evil series returns. Players join rookie police officer Leon Kennedy and college student Claire Redfield, who are thrust together by a disastrous outbreak in Raccoon City that transformed its population into deadly zombies. Both Leon and Claire have their own separate playable campaigns, allowing players to see the story from both characters’ perspectives. The fate of these two fan favorite characters is in players hands as they work together to survive and get to the bottom of what is behind the terrifying attack on the city. Will they make it out alive?

Gas Station (Prologue):

The story opens with a truck driver barreling through Arklay County, distracted by food and a late-night radio program about zombie sightings, when he accidentally hits a woman on the highway—only for her to rise and attack him. Elsewhere, rookie cop Leon S. Kennedy and college student Claire Redfield stop at the Mizoil Gas Station, where Leon investigates a loud crash inside and discovers an Arklay sheriff deputy under attack by a zombie. As the dead swarm the station, Leon and Claire meet at the entrance and narrowly escape to the deputy’s patrol car. Leon speeds toward Raccoon City, unknowingly driving straight into the heart of the T-virus outbreak.

Police Station:

After a chaotic truck crash separates them, Leon and Claire agree to meet at the Raccoon City Police Department (RPD). Leon battles his way through the zombie-infested streets and into the seemingly secure police station, only to discover it has already been compromised. Leon gets inside only to witness Officer Elliot Edward torn apart under a security shutter. Inside, he meets Lieutenant Marvin Branagh, the last surviving officer, who reveals the existence of a secret passage hidden beneath the main hall statue. Leon must scour offices, evidence rooms, and the main hall for the emblem pieces, keys, files, and upgrades while managing limited inventory and weaponry. As Leon searches the east wing, a helicopter crash ignites chaos, forcing him to fend off zombies while remaining cut off from Claire. Eventually he solves the medallion puzzle to open the underground passage, but Marvin stays behind, resigned to his infection as Leon descends, knowing there’s no turning back from this perilous journey into the Secret Passage.
