Typhoon Ragasa disrupted domestic travel on Monday, causing cancellations of flights and ferry services to remote islands as it passed near southern Taiwan.

According to the Associated Press, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) said the storm was expected to pass near southern Taiwan from Monday afternoon, with its strongest impact forecast until Tuesday.

In Pingtung County, fishermen were seen mooring boats at the Fugang fishing port, while coast guard officers patrolled beaches to warn people to stay away from dangerous waves.

Local authorities also distributed sandbags to low-lying areas as part of flood prevention measures.

Officials urged the public to remain vigilant, warning that heavy rains and strong winds in Ragasa could cause flooding, landslides and widespread traffic disruptions.
