In the Udyoga-parvan most of the Mahabharata characters seem rolling down steadily towards their inevitable destiny. The Parvan can be described in single line as “Packing up for the grave” wherein grave is an adjective which describes the final fate i.e., the war!

It is the fifth Parvan in the 18-parvan classification of the Mahabharata.
The word Udyoga means effort, exertion or perseverance. With the period of exile over, efforts are made to give the Pandavas a share in the kingdom and avoid the approaching war.

Although the parties remain in contact with each other in their “efforts” to avoid the imminent war. Many allies join the two opposite parties as a part of preparations for the war.
