Brazilian soldiers always pray before every battle. Guilherme Ribeiro, a soldier from Brazil, said that Latin American soldiers pray before the start of the battle. “Brazilians are Christians. We are really very religious, so we always pray the Lord’s Prayer before the battle,” he added. In the Ukrainian Legion, English is the main language of communication, which is determined by the diversity of nationalities among the fighters.

Recently, Brazilian soldiers from the 2nd International Legion were deployed to stop the Russian attempt to break through to Dobropillya. Having gained extensive combat experience during the intensive defense of the Donetsk region, these volunteers are now using it to eliminate the remaining enemy cells that have fallen into the trap, reports RFU News.
The Pokrovsky Front is another battlefield where the 2nd International Legion of Ukraine, partly redeployed from Zaporizhzhia and Chasovy Yar, is playing a crucial role. Operating as highly mobile infantry supported by drones, the unit provides Ukrainian commanders with a flexible force capable of quickly responding to threats while simultaneously carrying out raids that unbalance Russian forces, which are already suffering huge losses.

Among the most visible groups within the 2nd Legion are Brazilian volunteers. Brazil is home to a Ukrainian diaspora of about 600,000, many of whom live in the state of Paraná. For some, the motivation for joining is cultural roots; for others, anti-communist beliefs or personal outrage at the Russian invasion. Many are veterans of Brazilian military or police forces with specialized skills in small-unit tactics, reconnaissance, and urban warfare, RFU News reports. In Pokrovsk, where Russian attacks often rely on infiltration and poorly coordinated offensives, Brazilian fighters are well-suited to counter them. By clearing villages near Pokrovsk of Russian scouts and stabilizing threatened flanks, they are directly contributing to the broader Ukrainian plan to encircle and eliminate Russian forces that have been struggling to make progress in the sector for months. The Brazilian actions on the Pokrovsk flanks illustrate the unit’s mission: to clear reconnaissance groups, secure villages, and provide rapid, accurate small-unit force where it is needed most. Around Pokrovsk, the Brazilian contingent of the 2nd International Legion demonstrated how their jungle-honed skills translate seamlessly into the besieged forests and villages of Ukraine. One video shows them quietly moving through dense forest on a reconnaissance mission, using their natural ability to move stealthily, camouflage effectively, and set up ambushes. This expertise allows them to surprise Russian forces, capture prisoners, or eliminate threats before they can threaten larger Ukrainian formations.
