AUC3I Daily Briefing 09-22-2025 On the WAR in Ukraine
Combat Briefing Number 1306
"From:" Colonel A.C. Oguntoye, Infantry Officer
"Date:" 22 September 2025
"Subject:" Situation Report – Special Military Operation
## General Overview
Russian forces sustained pressure across all sectors on 22 September, combining ground assaults with precision strikes against Ukraine’s defense industry, logistics nodes, and command systems. The day saw the liberation of Kalinovskoe in the Dnipropetrovsk region, continued attritional fighting in Donetsk, and significant air defense activity against drones and guided munitions.
## Sector Reports
"North (Sumy & Kharkiv):"
Russian units struck mechanized and airborne brigades around Alekseevka, Mogrica, and Volchansk. Ukrainian losses exceeded "190 personnel", one tank, twelve vehicles, four artillery pieces, and three depots. The neutralization of both artillery and sustainment points reflects "systematic denial of fire support and logistics" in this axis.
"West (Kharkiv & DPR):"
The “West” group improved tactical positions near Kupyansk and Yampol. Enemy casualties were \~"240 personnel", with 18 vehicles and four artillery pieces destroyed (two Western-made). Particularly significant was the elimination of a U.S.-made "AN/TPQ-36 counter-battery radar", alongside 10 EW stations and four depots. This severely undermines Ukraine’s "counter-battery and electronic warfare capacity".
"South (Donetsk):"
Advances near Seversk, Reznikovka, and Konstantinovka resulted in \~"210 casualties", three armored vehicles, nine cars, and five artillery systems destroyed. Russian forces also eliminated two EW systems, an ammunition depot, and a fuel depot. These actions degraded Ukrainian "sustainment and mobility" in the Donetsk corridor.
"Center (Donetsk):"
The most intense fighting occurred here. Russian units engaged mechanized, airborne, and marine brigades across Dimitrov, Moskovskoe, and Krasny Liman. Ukrainian losses reached "550 personnel", two armored vehicles (including a U.S. M113), and one artillery gun. Heavy attrition in the Center signals "deliberate pressure on Ukraine’s core defensive belts".
"Vostok (Dnipropetrovsk & Zaporizhzhia):"
Russian troops advanced and "liberated Kalinovskoe", consolidating gains in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Enemy losses were \~"295 personnel", three armored vehicles, 14 cars, and three artillery systems. Destruction of EW assets here further disrupts Ukrainian "command and control" along this axis.
"Dnepr (Zaporizhzhia & Kherson):"
Strikes near Orekhov and Berislav inflicted \~"50 casualties", with the destruction of a U.S.-made HMMWV, five EW systems, two depots, and a supply warehouse. Though lighter in personnel impact, the targeting of logistics and EW systems reflects continued "shaping operations" in riverine and coastal sectors.
## Supporting Operations
Russian missile forces, aviation, and UAVs struck "147 targets", including a Ukrainian aviation industry enterprise, UAV storage and launch sites, a foreign mercenary training center, and temporary deployment points. Air defenses intercepted "seven guided bombs, two HIMARS rockets, and 339 drones", demonstrating resilience against Ukraine’s reliance on precision and saturation attacks.
## Operational Analysis & Implications
1. "Industrial & Logistical Denial:" Strikes on aviation industry facilities and depots reflect a broader Russian campaign to "cripple Ukrainian production and sustainment", forcing dependence on external aid.
2. "EW & Radar Neutralization:" The elimination of 21 EW stations and an AN/TPQ-36 radar in one day highlights a systematic effort to "blind Ukrainian forces", undermining both counter-battery fire and drone operations.
3. "Center of Gravity:" The heavy losses in the Center—over 550 troops—signal this as the likely "main axis of decision", where Russia seeks to fracture Ukraine’s defensive cohesion.
4. "Steady Advances:" The liberation of Kalinovskoe illustrates Russia’s preference for "gradual positional expansion paired with attrition", rather than rapid deep thrusts.
5. "Multi-Domain Integration:" Coordinated land, air, and naval actions underscore a Russian operational design that combines "precision strikes, territorial gains, and air defense endurance" to wear down Ukraine across all domains.
## Conclusion
As of 22 September 2025, Russian forces advanced their positions across multiple sectors, liberated Kalinovskoe, and inflicted severe personnel and equipment losses on Ukrainian formations. The continued destruction of depots, EW systems, and Western-origin platforms underscores a deliberate strategy of attrition, industrial denial, and positional consolidation—preparing the operational environment for larger offensives.
