Discover the Irresistible Power and Efficacy of Sacrifice: A Spiritual Journey That Transforms Lives
Our Topic of the day: The IRRESISTIBLE POWER And EFFICACY Of SACRIFICE.
We shall be taking all our bible verses according to the Scriptures from New King James Version as follows, based on today's topic:
John 19 verse 28 to 30, After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, "I thirst!" Now a vessel full of sour wine was sitting there; and they filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on hyssop, and put it to His mouth. So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, "It is finished!" And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit. hallelujah!
We take Genesis 22 verse 2 to 26, Then He said, "Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you." So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son; and he split the wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place of which God had told him. Then on the third day Abraham lifted his eyes and saw the place afar off. And Abraham said to his young men, "Stay here with the donkey; the lad and I will go yonder and worship, and we will come back to you." So Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife, and the two of them went together. But Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, "My father!" And he said, "Here I am, my son." Then he said, "Look, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?" And Abraham said, "My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering." So the two of them went together. Then they came to the place of which God had told him. And Abraham built an altar there and placed the wood in order; and he bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, upon the wood. And Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slay his son.
But the Angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, "Abraham, Abraham!" So he said, "Here I am." And He said, "Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me." Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and there behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son. And Abraham called the name of the place, The-Lord-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, "In the Mount of The Lord it shall be provided." Then the Angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time out of heaven, and said: "By Myself I have sworn, says the Lord, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son. blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies. In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice." So Abraham returned to his young men, and they rose and went together to Beersheba; and Abraham dwelt at Beersheba. Now it came to pass after these things that it was told Abraham, saying, "Indeed Milcah also has borne children to your brother Nahor: Huz his firstborn, Buz his brother, Kemuel the father of Aram, Chesed, Hazo, Pildash, Jidlaph, and Bethuel." And Bethuel begot Rebekah. These eight Milcah bore to Nahor, Abraham's brother. His concubine, whose name was Reumah, also bore Tebah, Gaham, Thahash, and Maachah. hallelujah!
Here is the scripture from 2nd Kings 3 verse 26 to 27, And when the king of Moab saw that the battle was too fierce for him, he took with him seven hundred men who drew swords, to break through to the king of Edom, but they could not. Then he took his eldest son who would have reigned in his place, and offered him as a burnt offering upon the wall; and there was great indignation against Israel. So they departed from him and returned to their own land. hallelujah!
Again according to Genesis 8 verse 20 to 22, Then Noah built an altar to the Lord, and took of every clean animal and of every clean bird, and offered burnt offerings on the altar. And the Lord smelled a soothing aroma. Then the Lord said in His heart, "I will never again curse the ground for man's sake, although the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done. "While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, Cold and heat, Winter and summer, And day and night Shall not cease." hallelujah!
Let us dive into Spiritual summary and meditation:
Sacrifice can be defined as an act of slaughtering an animal or person or surrendering a possession as an act of offering to a deity. A good example is Christ's offering of himself in the crucifixion. It can also be described as an act of giving up something valued for the sake of something else regarded as more important or worthy. Sacrifice can be made for various reasons and in various circumstances. It could be offered as a thanksgiving to God or for forgiveness of sins. Also, it can be offered as an invitation or invocation for divine intervention in a particular matter of interest. It is regarded as the highest type of prayer and commitment to God.
In John 19 verse 28 to 30, the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross is the height, summit and apex of all sacrifices and atonements. This is because it is perfect, complete, lacking in nothing and entirely God to God sacrifice, therefore superior to any other sacrifice that had ever been offered and will ever be offered forever. It opens and brings to bear unbelievable possibilities. It opens the way, and brings about changes and transformations, instantly and unexpectedly.
In Genesis 22 verse 26 to 27, Abraham obeyed God by agreeing to sacrifice his only son to him. He nearly killed him before God stopped him through His angel. For that reason God blessed him and his seed with a covenant of prosperity and multiplication for ever. In 2 Kings 3 verse 26 to 27, when Israel and Moab were in war, the king of Moab, realized that they were losing the battle, he quickly killed his son that was supposed to reign as king after him and offered him as a sacrifice on the city wall as a sacrifice to the god of Moab. Immediately, the war changed, Israelites were terrified and so they went back from the city and returned to their country. Noah offered sacrifice that pleased God and He vowed to himself that he will never destroy humanity the way he did and that all times and seasons he has made will be permanent and unchanging, hence will not be altered.
