Yvette Cooper Exposed

In case you didn’t recognise her, that was Yvette Cooper claiming Donald Trump believes he has a right to indecently assault women. She was speaking in 2017, at which time Labour was in Opposition. She was referring to the now notorious Access Hollywood tape, a covert recording made of Trump in 2005 and released by anti-Trump Republicans in 2016 in an attempt to scupper his first Presidential run.

The tape will not be played here but if you listen to it or read the transcript, it is clear that Trump was saying no such thing. To begin with, he wasn’t talking about ordinary women but about power groupies, women, usually stunningly attractive single women, who are attracted to famous and/or fabulously wealthy, often older men.

The women give the men their time and often their sex; the men take them on holidays, to the best hotels, fine restaurants, shower them with gifts... Trump has gone on record defending his remarks pointing out that stars (like him but not only him) have a big advantage in life, in other words this comes with the territory. Trump married his third wife the same year; Melania is 24 years younger than her husband, a fashion model from Slovenia, stunningly attractive (and still is), as well as highly literate.

Does Yvette Cooper believe he ever indecent assaulted her?

Rhetoric is one thing; we can all bloviate, but since July last year, Yvette Cooper has been in a position to do something about real sexual assaults on women and girls. Instead, she did this.

And ignored this.
