Welcome to Part 1 of my Weird NJ Garden State Mysteries series!

In this video, I visit two eerie and legendary New Jersey locations straight from the pages of Weird NJ:

The Devil’s Tower (Alpine, NJ)
Built in 1910 by sugar baron Manuel Rionda, the stone tower was meant as a gift for his wife so she could watch the sunset. But when she supposedly leapt to her death from its top, the structure quickly gained a dark reputation.

Over the years, countless legends have grown from shadowy figures appearing in the windows, to whispers that circling the tower in your car summons the devil himself. Many locals still claim to feel an overwhelming presence around it today.

The Psycho Cemetery / Cemetery of Carlstadt (Carlstadt, NJ)
This old cemetery, hidden between industrial lots, has earned its chilling nickname thanks to countless strange encounters. Paranormal stories include glowing lights hovering among the headstones, apparitions in the trees, and even tales of satanic rituals that once took place here. While the site has fallen into neglect, visitors report an uneasy atmosphere and the sense that they’re being watched.
Both locations are featured in the Weird NJ book, which documents haunted sites, urban legends, and mysterious spots all across the state. If you’re from NJ or planning a visit, this book (and the website) is a must-read for all things weird and unexplained.

This is just the beginning, I’ll be exploring as many locations from the book as possible. Some have already been lost to industrialization, but I’m going to do my best to cover every site I can. So stay tuned for Part 2 and moreee
