Vladimir Putin arrived in Perm on Gunsmith Day. There, the head of state visited the city's backbone enterprise, Motovilikha Plants.
As part of Russian President Vladimir Putin's working visit to the Perm Krai, a meeting of the military-industrial commission was held.
The Motovilikha Plants, which produces advanced barrel artillery and multiple launch rocket systems, provided the venue for the meeting.
The president was also shown new weapons. Putin was shown the Derivatsiya-PVO anti-aircraft artillery system and the TOS-2 heavy flamethrower system.
The Perm plant, which the president visited today, produces barrel artillery and multiple launch rocket systems. The plant has created over 250 types of military equipment, which are used not only by the Russian army but also by the armed forces of at least 50 other countries.
Putin was shown the workshops and an exhibition of new weapons, featuring multiple rocket launchers, artillery mounts, unmanned aerial vehicles, air defense systems, and the TOS-2 flamethrower system, which have already been accepted into service and are being used in the special military operation zone. The head of state was also briefed on the development of technologies for the production of high-thrust engines, including the PD-35 aircraft engine.
At a meeting with plant workers, Vladimir Putin congratulated them on Gunsmith's Day and thanked them for their work.
Vladimir Putin, President of Russia: "We think of the defense industry like doctors. We think of doctors when we get sick. We think of the defense industry too. When hard times come, people immediately remember where our defense industry is, the one we've always been proud of. And we were right to be proud."
According to the president, Russia has increased its arms production exponentially over the past year and a half. Moreover, Putin noted, production of some types of weapons has increased several-fold: twofold, threefold, tenfold, fifteenfold, and even thirtyfold for some products.
The workers thanked the head of state for saving the plant. Several years ago, the plant's debt burden led to bankruptcy proceedings for this oldest enterprise in the Urals. However, a negative scenario was averted.
At a meeting of the Military-Industrial Commission, Vladimir Putin emphasized that the characteristics of Russian weapons and equipment have been significantly improved through combat experience. And for the future, Russia needs to plan for the production of dual-use products.
Vladimir Putin: "We often talk about this in Russia, but now we can do so with complete justification. Today, it is clear how our defense industry operates. We are proud of the achievements of the designers, engineers, managers, and workers who work in the defense industry, creating reliable and effective weapons and equipment, contributing to strengthening the defense capability and security of the Motherland, and maintaining the balance of power in the world."
