SBC Family,

I look forward to seeing you tomorrow. We are marching through Church History to observe how Christ builds His church by means of the Spirit.

1. Church-Israel distinction. Gentiles do not need to be circumcised to enter Israel because everyone enters the church regardless of circumcision and the Law of Moses.
2. Authority. The authority is the apostles' writings rather than the apostles.
3. Canonicity. The NT canon was completed when John finished the Revelation in AD96, but it was not recognized until later. Athanasius makes clear the books that we all recognize, the 27 books of the NT in AD367.

Tomorrow we will look at Christology AD325 Council of Nicea, Pneumatology AD381 Council of Constantinople, and Trinity AD451 Council of Chalcedon.

Anglicans and Protestants don’t recognize any of the later councils because they are contradictory or don’t have Scriptural support, so from here on we will simply look at developments that were made in Church history.

See the attached notes for tomorrow’s lesson!

May the Lord bless you and keep you,
Jeremy
