Day 78, in 100 days prayer and fasting, | Saturday, 20th, SEPTEMBER, 2025 — Topic: Self Control

Scriptures from New King James Version as follows:
Genesis 25 verse 29 to 34, Now Jacob cooked a stew; and Esau came in from the field, and he was weary. And Esau said to Jacob, "Please feed me with that same red stew, for I am weary." Therefore his name was called Edom. But Jacob said, "Sell me your birthright as of this day." And Esau said, "Look, I am about to die; so what is this birthright to me?" Then Jacob said, "Swear to me as of this day." So he swore to him, and sold his birthright to Jacob. And Jacob gave Esau bread and stew of lentils; then he ate and drank, arose, and went his way. Thus Esau despised his birthright. hallelujah!

Matthew 4 verse 1 to 4, Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry. Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, "If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread." But He answered and said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.' hallelujah!

Spiritual summary and meditation:
Dictionary defines Self- Control as the ability to control one's emotions and desires, especially in difficult situations. It is usually accompanied by patience and humility. Have self restraint. Control your appetite and your desires. Do not rush into doing things, because you can do them. Think of the consequences, outcome and the result of your actions, before you do them. Some actions lead to death, shame, disgrace and irredeemable loss. In Genesis 25 verse 29 to 34, Esau was very hungry, because he lacked self- control, sold his birthright to his younger brother Jacob for a plate of food. They had covenant and Esau vowed to him that if he gave him food that he will relinquish and transfer his birth-right to him. Jacob gave him the food and the exchange was done, confirmed and became effective in the spiritual. It is a known fact that the spiritual controls the physical. So when Isaac became old and wanted to give Esau his final blessing as his first son, Rebecca their mother tactically assisted Jacob to manipulate Isaac to transfer the blessings meant for the first son to Jacob instead of Esau. The exchange was successfully executed because it already happened in the spiritual.

Adam and Eve were driven out from the Garden of; Eden, because they lacked self-control. Judas Iscariot lacked self-control and betrayed his Master Jesus. Gehazi lacked self- control and collected the gift rejected by his Master, Elijah, and suffered leprosy as punishment. Be mindful of what you do. Control your appetite. Be sensible. Be focused. Do not depend on someone's directives. Think and evaluate well, the consequences of your actions, before you act. In Matthew 4 verse 1 to 11, the devil tempted Jesus after he had fasted for forty days and forty nights, but Jesus defeated him by the application of the word of God in His responses. Control what you say, do, listen to and accept. Before the end of this program, you shall not make the mistake of others. The Lord will grant you the grace to be focused control what you eat and your appetite. The Lord will give you the gift of self control. You shall not miss your destiny. You shall posses your possession, in the name of Jesus. Your case is settled.

PRAYER For SELF-SURRENDER
All power belongs to you, O God, forever and ever. No man will share your glory with you. You remain my God in heaven and on earth and only you will I serve with all my spirit, soul and body. You have said, O Lord, in Romans 12 verse 1,“that I should offer myself as a living sacrifice to you; dedicated to your service and pleasing to you”. Here I am, O Lord, to do your will as the prophet Isaiah says in Chapter 6 verse 8, I surrender my life unto you. I dedicate myself to your service and works.

Lord! Melt me! Mould me! And use me to your own glory. I surrender my movement to you! My going and coming, my ways and thinking, my character and attitude, my ideas and shortcomings, my prayer life and visions.

God in heaven take total control to the glory of your name alone. Lord! Let my heart always be where you are; let my spirit always be eager to do your will. Let my heart always be open to you, think and remember the good works you do for mankind, for St. Paul said in Hebrews 12 verse 2,we look unto you the author and the finisher of our faith”.

Father, may every self-sacrifice and service I make in your vineyard be pleasing to you. Jesus, I love you, all I have is yours, yours I am and yours I want to be, do with me whatever you will. Amen.
