Officials find remains they believe are Travis Decker

Authorities in Washington state say human remains found in the mountains are believed to be those of Travis Decker, a former soldier wanted for the deaths of his three young daughters.

Decker, 32, had been on the run since June 2, when his daughters — Paityn, 9, Evelyn, 8, and Olivia, 5 — were found dead at a campground near Leavenworth.

An autopsy determined they were suffocated after being bound with zip ties and having plastic bags placed over their heads.

Decker, who served in the Army and had survival training, evaded capture despite an extensive search involving state and federal agencies, the Associated Press has reported.

DNA testing will confirm the identity of the remains.
