Denmark is leading Arctic Light 2025, the largest military exercise ever held in Greenland. Over 550 troops from NATO allies France, Germany, Sweden and Norway are training with frigates, F-16s and special forces in icy terrain. Denmark's Arctic commander, Soren Andersen, confirmed that, while U.S. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth had been invited, no U.S. military units were asked to participate. Copenhagen says the drills are not aimed at the U.S. but reflect growing concerns over Russia’s Arctic build-up and China’s expanding presence in the region.

Also on Vantage Shots:

- Trump UK state visit: At Windsor Castle, Queen Camilla took First Lady Melania Trump on a library tour.

- Israel: Families of hostages protested outside the Prime Minister’s residence over the Gaza invasion.

- On this day in 2014, Scotland held a referendum on independence. Fifty-five per cent voted to remain in the United Kingdom. Independence has long been a demand of the government in Edinburgh, but London has consistently opposed it.
