I Cleaned My New Barrel!! Will I Learn This Time?
So after this last match I got over 200 rounds on this new barrel. I actually cleaned it! I learned after the first one that I should probably do this a little more often, lol. I am going to try!! Will I learn this lesson on my second barrel? Time will tell us all! I also figured out a few quicker processes and I wanted to show off some of those compared to my first cleaning video attempt!
I now use patches for a few passes to get the carbon and copper loosened and pushed out. Then I switch to Thorroclean paste and apply to a brush and run it about 30 times through to coat inside and start breaking up the carbon with more force.
I let that sit for a while and then do another 30 to 50 runs with the brush. That seemed to get this pretty sparkly!
Then I wanted to check my ammo I used at the match, and after this range trip I am going back to my original load. This did not end up speeding up through the last count up to 200 like I thought it may, so I am going back to the old charge with a little more powder. Tested a few and seemed to group well!
I also want to try and learn to get more square in line with the rifle. I have been slacking on learning this. I tend to have the stock further out on my shoulder and lean my head to the cheek riser. I am going to attempt to learn to lay more in line so the stock hits my collarbone closer to the center of my chest and I can have my head more in line with the scope. This should help a few things if I can get the technique down properly. I will work on this at the match this weekend! Not good to practice something new in a match, but I am going to try, lol. Wish me luck!!
I think seeing this I am confident to go back to my old charge, dropping 2 tenths of a grain did not work as well as I hoped. Then learning a few new ways to stay in line with the rifle should also help hone my skills as I continue to progress. I just want to not finish totally last at the regional finale in a few weeks! Got about 3 weekends to practice, I am going to do all I have time to do!!
Thank you for watching and spending some time with me. I appreciate your time every video! If you want to help out some, check the links below and if you use any of these items, go ahead and use my discounts and links to save some money and help me out as well.
