Haggai Bible Study

The book of Haggai is a collection of four prophetic messages delivered in 520 BC, urging the post-exilic Israelites to prioritize rebuilding the temple in Jerusalem instead of focusing on their own homes and comfort. After returning from Babylonian exile, the people neglected the ruined temple, leading to curses like famine and blight. Haggai's message prompted their renewed effort, which God promised to bless, and culminated in prophecies about a future, glorious temple and a Messianic king from the line of David, represented by Zerubbabel.
