Fascism Defined, Part 1: Anti-Liberalism

Fascism isn’t just an insult — it has a real definition. The first pillar is anti-liberalism: the rejection of classical liberal democracy.

In Mussolini’s day, “liberal” meant classical liberalism: free markets, private property, free speech, and limited government. Fascists saw this as weak and decadent. Mussolini declared: “For the Fascist, everything is in the State, and nothing human or spiritual exists outside the State.”

Today, many who call themselves “liberals” reject those very principles. They attack markets, undermine property, suppress speech, and expand government control. That’s not liberalism — that’s its rejection.

📌 This is Part 1 of our series defining fascism brick by brick:

2️⃣ Suppression of opposition (next episode)
