Elite Dangerous Lakon Type-11 Prospector – My Thoughts & First Impressions

The Lakon Type-11 Prospector has finally been revealed in Elite Dangerous – a dedicated mining ship built from the ground up for resource extraction. In this video, I share my thoughts and first impressions after digging into all the details revealed so far, ahead of its ARX early access launch on September 23, 2025.

We’ll cover:

🚀 Design overview – Lakon’s rugged industrial style with an off-center cockpit and retractable engine pylons

⛏️ Mining-exclusive hardpoints – including a Large slot locked to a brand-new mining tool

🛠️ Reserved internal bays – a dedicated Class-5 Fighter Hangar and Class-5 Limpet Controller for mining efficiency

📦 Capacity & loadouts – nearly 300 tons of cargo, three crew seats, and medium pad access

🌌 Impact on mining gameplay – is this Frontier’s push to get more Commanders back into mining?

I’ll also talk about the community’s mixed reactions so far – why some players seem disinterested, whether Commanders are tired of new ships, and why I think the Type-11 Prospector might quietly become one of the most important additions of 2025.
