House Hunting Outside ANTIGUA GUATEMALA: 4 Communities in 3 Towns

🏡 On my first day of house hunting for my wife’s and my retirement outside of Antigua, Guatemala, I set out — on my own while my wife stayed back home in Maryland working — to visit four gated communities in three neighboring towns:

🏘️ Los Franciscanos Residential Club – Ciudad Vieja

🌳 Antigua Gardens – Alotenango

🌄 Hacienda San Juan – Alotenango

🌺 La Estancia – San Miguel Dueñas

While I came in with a clear plan and list, the reality of each place told me something different. Some communities checked the boxes for natural light 🌞, fresh air 🌬️, and good plumbing 🚿✨, while others left me a bit disappointed.

It turns out that what looks good on paper 📋 doesn’t always match reality — and one community clearly rose above the rest. ✅
