Heads Will Roll Reforged | DLC Showcase Stream | Part 01 of 02

Hello Im Skill Incarnate and Welcome to My Games Review Series.
My reviews cover indie games that i have bought, had gifted to me and have been provided by developers for review. This is the VOD from a stream on my Twitch Channel where i covered my favourite Visual Novel RPG Games on Steam, Heads Will Roll: Reforged. This game is developed by 1917 Studios and is published by Valkyrie Initiative, who released some of my favourite indie titles on Steam, including We. The Revolution, Mech Mechanic Simulator and the legendary Soulslike Game Skelethrone: The Chronicles of Ericona, which ive previously reviewed.

Heads Will Roll is a fascinating take on the Visual Novel Genre, discarding the passive narrative style found in similar games in favour of actively engaging the player through crafting, character building and a surprisingly deep tactical combat system, requiring mastery of different weapons, stances and fighting techniques in order to prevail against overwhelming odds. The games unforgiving difficulty requires the player to make careful decisions, weighing up whether to pursue glory and honour by risking life and limb, vs the practicality of keeping both yourself and your allies alive through each campaign. The games campaign is huge, featuring a branching storyline which is determined by the decisions, allies and enemies you accrue over your time on the battlefield. Players can work as a loyal knight, gaining honor and renown with each battle, strike out on their own as a Mercenary for hire to the highest bidder, or can make their own play for the crown, risking everything for ultimate power. Your success or failure will govern which of the games many endings youll reach.

Death in battle is a fact of life in Heads Will Roll, which is why the Heads Will Roll difficulty is the best way to enjoy the game. With each death youll retain experience, which can be used to build a more skilled character for your next run. You have complete freedom in determining your approach. Will you rely on a defensive approach, relying on armour and shields to protect you from enemy blows whilst you strategically cut them down, will you invest in brute strength, discarding defence in favour of massive two handed weapons, or will you become a master archer, wielding throwing knives, javelins and crossbows to decimate your foes from afar. All resources are finite including your time between engagements. Youll need to balance training your combat skills, crafting items and repairing your weapons and building up your reputation with the games various factions.
