My expat seminar for Guatemala & El Salvador got postponed until 2026…

But I’m still heading on my retirement scouting trip to Guatemala! ✈️
Here’s why canceled plans won’t stop me from exploring life abroad.

Welcome back to *Dying to Retire*! In this episode, I’m getting ready for my retirement scouting trip to Guatemala. I was originally scheduled to attend an expat seminar covering both Guatemala and El Salvador, but that event has now been postponed until early 2026. Since my flight was already booked—and I can stay with my wife’s family in Guatemala City—I decided to go anyway!

This trip is part of my bigger retirement journey: exploring Guatemala, spending time in Antigua, and seeing firsthand what life abroad might really look like. Packing has been a bit of a struggle with airline restrictions, and I even ran into a small health hiccup before travel (ever had that happen right before a big trip?).

This channel is for conservative retirees like me who are exploring a simpler, more affordable life overseas. If you’re curious about what it takes to retire in Guatemala—or just want to see the behind-the-scenes of a scouting trip—stick around.
