Burled, Spalted, & Beautiful - Incredible Ambrosia Maple Platter

What happens when you take a massive chunk of ambrosia maple—full of spalting, curls, worm trails, and more attitude than a caffeinated raccoon—and slap it on the lathe? You get this platter. Equal parts elegant and chaotic, this thing fought me the whole way... and I think it won a few rounds.

This wood had it all: tiger stripes, spalting that looked like abstract art, and even some surprise burls just hanging out like they owned the place. But with a little patience (and a lot of sanding), I managed to coax out one seriously stunning piece.

💬 Drop a comment if you’ve ever had a piece of wood humble you. I won’t judge—this one certainly kept me on my toes.
👍 Don’t forget to like, subscribe, and ring the bell if you enjoy turning logs into heirlooms and sawdust into therapy.

🛠 Tools Used:
– Bowl Gouge
– Negative Rake Scraper
– Sheer stubbornness and mild panic

📐 Finish:
My signature combo of food-safe oil and a touch of magic (and probably some shop dust).

🎶 ASMR fans, stick around for some satisfying shavings near the end!
