Baby emperor penguin rescue

Russian polar explorers rescued a baby emperor penguin who got caught in a real "ice trap" after a hurricane on the Haswell Archipelago near the Mirny station.

The chick could barely move. The snow under its warm body had melted and turned into an icy trap. But our scientists from the Arctic and Antarctic Institute noticed the protruding beak in time and came to the rescue.

With the careful hands of the polar explorers, the baby was reunited with its family.
