India Unveils Anti-Submarine Ship Androth As China Expands Indian Ocean Presence | Spotlight | N18G

India has inducted INS Androth, an indigenously built anti-submarine warfare ship, to bolster its coastal defense amid China’s growing naval presence in the Indian Ocean. At approximately 77 metres in length, Androth is the largest diesel-powered warship in the Indian Navy, equipped with lightweight torpedoes, indigenous anti-submarine rockets, and advanced shallow-water sonar. Designed for shallow-water operations, the ship enhances India’s ability to detect and deter submarines attempting to operate close to its coasts. With over 80% indigenous content, Androth exemplifies India’s push for self-reliance in defense manufacturing while strengthening strategic readiness in the Indian Ocean Region against potential threats from China.
