Salt the Earth

My latest song, currently available only on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube is called "Salt The Earth." It's a song about retiring and stems from a gig I played where a retirement party was happening, and I didn't know of any songs about retirement - other than something like Take This Job and Shove It. So I wrote this. The original thought, Salt the Earth... was kind of a dark, Springsteeny piano thing. But then I started noodling a chord pattern, and realized really quickly that pattern fit the few lines I'd written, and the song took a different path. I wrote it start to finish in a few days and started playing it live right away.
If you've seen me play the last 14 or so months, I've probably played it. I'm told it's livelier when I play it live, with a little bit of anger in the voice.
The AI generated lyrics got a few things wrong, so I'll post the lyrics below. The AI also seems to pick up on a few themes and runs with them, so the heavy symbolism of the boots early on, and the scotch in the middle part.

Salt The Earth
Salt the earth below my feet
I ain’t coming here no more
These old boots have done their dirty job
And are walking out the door
30-years in this factory
Think I’ve done my time
Salt the earth below my feet
There’s gotta be something more
Salt the earth below my boots
I won’t be coming back
These tired old bones have done their time
And my minds about to crack
The best years of my life are gone
I left them on this job
Salt the earth below my boots
I’ve given myself the sack
Got myself a new gold watch
Got all this time to kill
Got a 30-year bottle of scotch
Got a whole new life to build
Salt the earth below my bones
The final whistle’s called
I’m going home to my wife
And drive her up the wall
Maybe I’ll fly to Florida
And play lots of Pickle-ball
Salt the earth and pack my bags
I won’t be taking calls
Salt the earth below my feet
I’m coming here no more
These old boots have done their job
And I’m walking out the door
30-years in this factory
I’ve done my time
Salt the earth, burn the bridge
Let’s see what lies in store
