Brits Try AMERICAN SUGAR COOKIES for the First Time! 🍪 (Sweet Shock Reaction 🇺🇸😲)

We’re a little British family in the UK with a BIG love for American food — and in today’s video, we’re baking American sugar cookies for the very first time! 🇺🇸🍪 Are they just like shortbread? Are they Christmas cookies? Do they need frosting, or are they already sweet enough on their own? Watch along as we find out…

This video has all the family fun: mixing, rolling, decorating, a little kitchen chaos (and frosting mess everywhere 😂), plus our first-time taste test. Will sugar cookies win us over — or are they too sweet for British taste buds?

🍪 Recipe (Our Version)

(Adapted from classic American sugar cookie recipes — feel free to compare your own!)

Cookie Dough:

1 cup butter (softened)
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
2½ cups flour (sifted)
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda

Frosting:

½ cup butter (softened)
2 cups confectioner’s sugar (powdered sugar)
2–3 Tbsp milk
½ tsp vanilla
Food coloring (your choice!)

Method:

Cream butter + sugar until fluffy. Beat in egg + vanilla.
Slowly add flour, baking powder & soda. Mix into a soft dough.
Roll into small walnut-sized balls (about 48).
Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 8–10 minutes. Cool completely.

For frosting, beat butter until smooth, add sugar, milk, and vanilla.
Color, frost, decorate, and enjoy!
