In the spirit of the original Deep Blue Sea shark thriller, Deep Blue Sea 2 follows up on the continuing storyline and mythology of the genetically altered sharks. When a shark conservationist, Dr. Misty Calhoun (Savre), is enlisted with other scientists to endorse a top-secret research project overseen by a Big Pharma entrepreneur (Beach), she's discomfited to learn that the facility is using the highly aggressive and unpredictable bull sharks as its test subjects to extract their antibodies in an effort to combat human disease. When the drug-enhanced sharks quickly begin to adapt and learn new hunting skills, however, the humans lose control over the laboratory and find themselves fighting to survive.
