01 - The One Where Monica Gets A Roommate

The series opens with Monica Geller, a chef living in New York City, hanging out with her friends — Ross, Joey, Chandler, and Phoebe — at Central Perk, their favorite coffeehouse. Ross is heartbroken after his wife, Carol, has left him for another woman.

Suddenly, a woman in a wedding dress bursts into the café — it's Rachel Green, Monica's high school friend, who has just run out on her wedding. With nowhere to go, Rachel moves in with Monica and begins her new life of independence, learning how to live without relying on her wealthy parents.

Meanwhile, Ross confesses he wants to be married again, prompting Rachel to declare her independence — and Ross to begin falling for her.
