Metal Gear Solid 3 Delta Snake Eater - (Part 1) Longplay #1 - Normal
My first playthrough of the new MGS3 remake Delta. Ever since the MGSV drama between Konami and Kojima, I had little faith that Konami would continue with the MGS series, and if they did, it would be heavily censored like the Ground Zeroes logo mission implied. However, I was very happy with this remake. Konami surprised me, so credit given where credit is due.
It's extremely faithful to the original. Back when we saw the graphics on those ridiculous pachinko machines, I saw a lot of fans say "wouldn't it be awesome if we got a remake of MGS3 that was the exact same game, just with better graphics and some updated mechanics to make the movement feel more like MGS4 or MGSV?" Well, that appears to be what we got and I'm all for it. Hopefully we eventually get a remake of MGS1, 2, and PW in the same faithful style. I wouldn't trust Konami with a MG1&2 game unless they first prove they can remake the other games I mentioned and still keep true to the original like Delta. When Substinence came out, some fans said the over the shoulder camera broke the balance of the game, but the difficulty and enemy AI seems pretty well adjusted for this in Delta. You can still play with the traditional camera style if you want, the option is there. You can tell I struggled with the new controls at certain points, maybe I need to remap the buttons or something. The next time I play this, I might try playing with mouse and keyboard instead of using a controller.
There are a couple moments of very slight censorship which I'm not happy with, but I don't believe it has much impact on the experience even for fans of the original. Still, censorship is censorship. I'm sure modders will fix everything😆. My biggest issue is with the warning message of "outdated/offensive" content when the game starts, same with the master collection version of the original. What does Konami think this is, Disney Plus? What a joke! I'm glad they kept Kojima's name in the credits, although it's a little weird how they put "original directed by" Kojima. What do they mean by that? It's the exact same story and cutscenes as the original with a fresh coat of paint. They should've just said "directed by". The only major change that I noticed story wise was when you defeat Volgin, the bullets are lodged in his head and it plays a MGSV musical reference to a certain....character.🔥 I was really happy with this change. I believe this is a perfect example of keeping true to the original while adding minor changes to improve the continuity of the series. I may do a review at some point.
