We have highspeed cameras, live streaming, Super Zoom Lenses, and many ways now to see things we are not supposed to see. You need to realize that "Backstage" is not a place in Hollywood or on Broadway. Backstage is where the real controllers are, behind the wizard's curtain. You are currently on the Stage if you are on Earth. The Matrix is not just a beast system inside of the system, it is the fabric of reality as you perceive it through your sensors decoding those electrical signals through your mainframe you call a brain. go watch the movie "The Game" and Then Watch "The Adjustment Bureau" each movie shows a different level of how things work behind the scenes. and both, just like how i could understand the analogies of the Matrix when it came out, i understood the examples in these two movies, through my own experiences walking that thin edge.
