Testing of the Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engine after its installation on the aircraft

After installing a new engine, it is necessary to check its operation in various modes, up to the maximum. For this, a special barrier that disperses the jet stream is installed behind the aircraft, and wheel chocks are placed under the wheels to prevent any movement of the aircraft.

After completing the checklists and following all safety procedures, the crew starts both engines, even though only the right one is being tested in this case. This is done to maintain thrust balance and avoid overloading one side of the structure; the other engine is kept at about 40–50% power.

First, the engines are warmed up and stabilized, then the mode is gradually increased, constantly monitoring parameters with instruments and visually observing the apron to promptly notice any signs of abnormal operation. When the engine runs steadily, it is brought to even higher power to check its maximum operating characteristics.
