Welcome! As a teenager, American August Deleth was a huge fan of HP Lovecraft, Arthur Conan Doyle, and other fantasy, adventure, and mystery writers. Weird Tales magazine published his first pro-sale short when he was SIXTEEN! His correspondences with, and devotion to, the author HP Lovecraft led him and Donald Wandrei to co-create Arkham House Publishing, which was the primary force behind keeping Lovecraft's work in the public eye for many decades after Lovecraft's death. But, also as a teen, Mr. Derleth was a writer of Sherlock Holmes stories, and was unsuccessful getting permission from Sir Conan Doyle's estate to publish his first series of tales based in the super-sleuth's universe. Undeterred, Derleth created the Holmes parallel, SOLAR PONS, a genius detective who, like Holmes, was offered strong assistance by a medical doctor. Derleth's character became so popular, he has appeared in hundreds of short stories and numerous novels, even seeing a second author, Basil Copper (from the UK), pick up the Pons Baton, to build on the Derleth legacy! - We hope you enjoy this invitation to read more of their work!
