NOTE 1: John 1:42 - "And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone."

NOTE 2: As Jesus rebukes the lawyers in Luke 11:52, he says, "Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered." Jesus rebukes them for not letting anyone else other than themselves have the key of knowledge, in which he would expect them to give up this key freely. Jesus didn't give Peter any literal keys, so it can rightly be assumed that Peter would have been given the knowledge of salvation, which he preached. If this "key" was to be made ambiguous and non-discernable to anyone outside of himself, Jesus' accusation found in this verse toward the lawyers could easily be applied to this alleged first pope, which thankfully is not something that Peter did.

NOTE 3: Acts 10:25-26 - "And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him. But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man."
