In this video Dr. Angela Agrios, ND (A California Licensed Naturopathic Doctor) explains the benefits of taking fish oil, which contains very valuable Omega 3 Fatty Acids, and is very high in EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid), DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and ALA (alphalinolenic acid). She discusses:

• Flax oil has ALA in it, but not DHA or EPA.
• Udo’s 3 6 9 oil is a vegetarian source of ALA, DHA and EPA
• Fish oil is anti-inflammatory, helps with mood and helps with cognitive function
• Oil is better than capsules because of the amount of oil required to get a therapeutic dose
• Good fish oil that is not rancid should not taste “fishy”
• Cod liver oil has a heavier flavor
• Molecularly distilled oil does not have mercury or heavy metals in it
• Be careful of oxidized oil, so use it quickly, and the pill version may go rancid faster
• Biting fish oil capsules ought not to taste “fishy” and if it does, it is rancid
• Put the oil into an anti-oxidant rich juice to cut the taste
• Fish oil helps with hormone issues and cardiovascular health
• Krill oil is good
• Most patients are on 1 tablespoon of oil per day
• Fish oil is blood thinning
