Modern Doctrine and Denominations
In the 1991 revised edition of Judaism, Arthur Hertzberg, Professor Emeritus of Religion at Dartmouth College, places The Holocaust clearly and unequivocally under "Part 6. Doctrine" of Judaism. Thus, a story which originated toward the close of World War II, that the Germans had a program of exterminating Jews, has been removed from the realm of historical debate and placed by the rabbis "off limits" by making it a doctrine of their religion.
