Metroid Prime 4: Beyond - Release Date Trailer

During the recent Nintendo Direct, we got an update on Metroid Prime 4 along with a new trailer, which shows Samus on a futuristic motorcycle. She’s jumping over gaps in a tunnel, but is also out in the open desert, sliding around and taking out enemies. In one shot, Samus is on her bike, comes to a stop, hops off, and the game immediately transitions into first-person mode like a traditional Metroid Prime game. So it seems if Prime 4 is indeed an open-world game, as is heavily rumored, Samus’ motorcycle could be her method of quick traversal. After giving Link a motorcycle in the most recent Zelda games, we probably should’ve seen this coming from Nintendo.

Metroid Prime 4 has been in development for at least eight years, and was originally announced in June 2017 at E3. Nintendo announced in 2019 that development was starting completely over, with Retro Studios taking over the project, who developed the original Metroid Prime trilogy on GameCube and Wii. We got our first look at the game last year with a promised 2025 release date.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond releases for Nintendo Switch/Switch 2 on December 4, 2025.
