Investigators noted inscriptions that had been engraved on casings found with the rifle. One fired casing read: “notices bulges. Capital OWO What’s this?”. The inscriptions on the three unfired casings read: “Hey fascist!”, “catch!”, followed by an up arrow, a right arrow, and three down arrows. A second unfired casing read: “Oh Bella Ciao, Bella Ciao, Bella Ciao Ciao Ciao”. A third unfired casing read: “If you read this you are gay, LMAO”.
