A Louisiana man, Adrian James St. Romain, 42, was arrested after allegedly impersonating a judge over the phone to trick jail staff into reducing an inmate’s bond to a release on recognizance. Authorities say St. Romain’s call in April 2025 led to the wrongful release of inmate Demond Lynn Delahoussaye Sr., who remained free until the mistake was discovered during a July court appearance, resulting in his re-arrest. Investigators allege St. Romain tried the same scheme two more times in July without success. He now faces multiple charges, including false impersonation, assisting escape, and injuring public records, while the sheriff’s office has since tightened procedures to prevent similar incidents.
