Big Tech’s New Control Move

🚨 YouTube is rolling out a major update that could change the way millions use the platform. Starting August 13, YouTube will begin using AI-powered age estimation to automatically detect whether users are under 18 — even if they don’t enter their age.

This new system will:

Restrict access to age-gated content for flagged accounts

Limit ads to non-personalized ads for minors

Turn on privacy and “take a break” reminders by default

Reduce repeated recommendations on sensitive topics like body image

If YouTube misidentifies you, you’ll need to verify your age with a government ID, credit card, or selfie scan.

But here’s the big catch: creators may see lower ad revenue if more of their audience is categorized as teens. YouTube says it’s only rolling this out in the U.S. first before expanding worldwide.

Is this a win for child safety, or another step toward overreach and surveillance?

📺 Watch as we break down how this AI system works, what it means for users, and how it could impact creators across the platform.
