Flying Failures - The Pogo Planes

Howdy! :D

In this instalment of Flying Failures, we'll be looking at the short lived trend for Vertical Takeoff and Landing models which were essentially giant jetpacks, tail-sitting machines that would climb and descend with their nose pointing skyward for use with the US Navy as a one-man defence fighter for vessels as small as a frigate, only for the stripped down nature of these aircraft, combined with the fact that the pilot often couldn't see where they were going, leading to none of these projects ever getting beyond the prototype stage.
