Change Your Words, Change Your World: Flush The Foul, Four-Letter Words #211

I am quite amazed, and frankly appalled by what I hear coming out of the mouths of so many Christians….

Psalm 34:13 “keep they tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.”
Profanity is always negative, hurtful, places a curse on you and the person or situation you are using it on and, … foul language is extremely declassee!

In fact, swearing amounts to verbal abuse — and Jesus had some important things to say about the seriousness of that issue (see Matthew 5:22). NLT 22 But I say, if you are even angry with someone,[a] you are subject to judgment! If you call someone an idiot,[b] you are in danger of being brought before the court. And if you curse someone,[c] you are in danger of the fires of hell.[d]

The “F” word releases a curse. It is also the word demons use against you, in frustration, when you cast them out. All words originate from somewhere and the “F” word came from the pit of hell to be used against us. The “F” word places a curse over you, the environment you are in and over the person or situation you are using it against.

We all truly need to consider how foul words are perceived in our culture today. For example:

• What do people really mean when they use the f-word? Do they even know?
• What are they trying to communicate?
• How does it feel when someone says it to you?
• Is there any way the f-word can build others up?
• Does it ever benefit those who hear it? Of course not.

Eph 5:1-13 Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. 2 Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.

3 Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God’s people. 4 Obscene stories, foolish talk, and coarse jokes—these are not for you. Instead, let there be thankfulness to God. 5 You can be sure that no immoral, impure, or greedy person will inherit the Kingdom of Christ and of God. For a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.

6 Don’t be fooled by those who try to excuse these sins, for the anger of God will fall on all who disobey him. 7 Don’t participate in the things these people do. 8 For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light! 9 For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true.

Carefully determine what pleases the Lord. 11 Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them. 12 It is shameful even to talk about the things that ungodly people do in secret. 13 But their evil intentions will be exposed when the light shines on them, 14 for the light makes everything visible. This is why it is said,

“Awake, O sleeper,
rise up from the dead,
and Christ will give you light.”
