MOONLIGHT WHISPERS

This song, the moonlight, the couple dancing on water actually happened to Cathy and me. It was a long time ago. Bayshore, Long Island. Back door at Hogan’s Goat Bar. Cathy decided we’d had our fun. Time to go. We stepped into the cool autumn air heavy with the scent of rain. Not a dark night, though. Full moon. Van parked across the street. Street barely used. Not much maintained. Puddled easy. Cathy lifted her arms. Wanted to be carried. Lifted her into my arms. I tapped the puddle at the curb. Not deep at all. Two steps in, then I dropped her to her heels. She looked at me, wondering what came next. I twirled her. Danced. Stepped lightly as wonderful. The puddle was our ballroom floor. The moon our disco ball. And I sang Midnight Whispers softly into her ear. So now: Look at the moonlight on that puddle. Listen to me sing again. Into your ear. Watch “us” dance. A longer version of this is found on the WHEN CATHY SMILES album - and at music stores like Spotify and APPLE. MOONLIGHT WHISPERS Verse 1 Under the moon where the shadows play Our feet barely touch as we sway this way Your hand in mine feels like home tonight In your arms The world feels right Verse 2 Stars above paint a story so sweet To the rhythm of hearts Our souls meet The band plays soft The night takes its time In this slow dance You're already mine Chorus Whisper low Let the melody flow Hearts entwined where the night winds blow With every turn Every gentle spin In your love
