“He Was Effective, So They Killed Him”: Donald Trump Jr. Remembers Charlie Kirk on Hannity

NEW YORK, September 11, 2025 — Donald Trump Jr. joined Sean Hannity on Fox News to reflect on the shocking assassination of Charlie Kirk, describing him as “one of the sweetest people I know” and warning that his effectiveness as a conservative leader made him a target.

“No, it doesn’t make any sense, Sean. Charlie was such a great guy, kind, articulate, one of the sweetest people I know. Frankly, he gave so many of those who disagreed with him his platform to debate. He wanted to have that conversation… and because he did so effectively, they killed him,” Trump Jr. said.

Trump Jr. compared the tragedy to repeated attempts on President Trump’s life and said the violence must stop. He emphasized that Kirk’s “radical” ideas were simply belief in God, family, and America — principles that resonated deeply with youth and terrified the left.

“Charlie was able to move the needle so much for the youth of America, who for decades were indoctrinated with leftist ideology. He went to those hostile places, to campuses, and calmly won people over. That’s why they had to silence him,” he added.

The conversation turned to the broader climate of political violence, which Trump Jr. insisted flows “one way” — toward conservatives. He denounced the double standard of media coverage and accused the left of dehumanizing rhetoric. “What was Charlie’s fault? That he said men can’t be women? These aren’t radical ideas, Sean. But they are radical if they’re effective against the agenda of the left.”

He also revealed that Charlie’s death had deeply shaken his family, recalling attempts to reach Kirk’s wife Erica after hearing he had been rushed to the hospital. “We’re praying for them. The way to make sure Charlie’s legacy lives on is to stay active, to keep speaking the truth, and to refuse to be silenced.”

Trump Jr. concluded with a call to action: “If they shame us into a corner and fear us into silence, that’s when they win. And Charlie would have never allowed us to do that. We must be unafraid. We must continue to speak our minds.”
