Sara Gonzalez: “They don’t want us to be humanized, they want us to be demonized”
Amid the growing outrage over the assassination of Charlie Kirk, commentator Sara Gonzalez delivered a sharp criticism of the left’s rhetoric in the media, pointing out that behind the narrative that dehumanizes conservatives lies the justification for political violence.
She recalled a recent episode on The View, where after President Donald Trump appeared at the RNC convention with a bandage on his ear following his survival of an assassination attempt, his granddaughter Kai Trump took the stage and spoke emotionally about her grandfather. However, one of the panelists on the show commented: “I didn’t like it because it humanizes him.”
For Gonzalez, that phrase sums up the real problem: “Trump was simply talking. These people don’t want anyone to remember that we are human. And this is the ultimate outcome of that: they don’t want you to be humanized, they want you to be demonized.”
The connection with Charlie Kirk’s assassination
Gonzalez warned that this dehumanization is not just a media tactic, but one that produces real and tragic consequences. “Because if you are demonized, what comes next is obvious, and what comes next is justified in their minds. That’s why they do what they do, that’s why you hear the rhetoric you heard before Charlie Kirk was assassinated,” she explained.
She then posed a series of questions filled with pain and indignation: “Did he deserve to die because he had a different opinion? Do those children deserve to grow up without a father? Because he had a different opinion. His beautiful wife now has to face this alone, because he had a different opinion.”
The criticism of Van Jones and Whoopi Goldberg
In her remarks, Gonzalez also took aim at commentator Van Jones, wishing that the words he spoke about Charlie Kirk would haunt him forever: “I hope Van Jones sees this image of Charlie and that his words haunt him for the rest of his life.”
She also recalled that Whoopi Goldberg, also on The View, closed with a comment reflecting the same stance: “Don’t fall for it,” referring to Kai Trump’s attempt to show the humanity of her grandfather.
A pattern of hate
For Gonzalez, these media expressions are part of a systematic pattern: the left wants to silence, demonize, and ultimately justify violence against those who think differently. In her view, the assassination of Charlie Kirk is the most extreme consequence of that climate: dehumanization that begins in the media ultimately ends with blood spilled in the streets.
