An Ascent From the Maelstrom

In the past few days, there have been a whirlwind of extreme events, not to mention yesterday’s assassination of Trump ally Charlie Kirk, founder and chairman of the conservative Turning Point group.

Alongside this, on Tuesday, there was yet another brazen violation of international law by Israel, which targeted leaders of Hamas in Qatar who were there to negotiate the latest ceasefire proposal for Gaza. Residential buildings were hit in the city, and at least two people, including the son of a Hamas leader, were killed in the attacks. In a Truth Social post, Trump was very critical of the attacks, noting, “Unilaterally bombing inside Qatar, a Sovereign nation and close Ally of the United States, that is working very hard and bravely taking risks with us to broker peace, does not advance Israel or America’s goals.”

In Europe, warlike talk is emerging from the recent drone incursion into Polish airspace, in which it is being claimed that the 20 drones came from Russia, and were flying against targets in Poland.

All of these events should not be considered in their particular instances, but in context of the underlying dynamic taking place in the world as a whole. That dynamic has been shaped by the historical meetings of last week in Tianjin, China; Beijing, China; and Vladivostok, Russia. The Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Tianjin, China, brought together Russia, China, and India, altogether representing about 3 billion people, to discuss a new world economic order where nations are treated as equals, not vassals to be disposed of as the whim of imperial powers.

Helga Zepp-LaRouche’s statement, “The Nations of the West Must Cooperate With the New World Economic Order,” is required reading for those who wish to understand the larger dynamic that is taking place, and to put into context “extreme events” which cannot be analyzed by themselves. The geopolitical system of looting and war is coming to an end, and the Global Majority, represented by the Global South and institutions like the BRICS+, are forming a new world economic order, which is open to the trans-Atlantic nations to join.

Which direction we go depends on what we—representatives of the better angels of humanity—can do right now to shift the West towards cooperation with a new system.
