A large number of Flamingo missiles could significantly affect the situation at the front, especially strikes by the Ukrainian Defense Forces on transport junctions and oil terminals of the Russian Federation, said military expert Yuriy Fedorov.
In particular, on the Youtube channel The Breakfast Show, he was asked to comment on the attack on the former Topaz plant, which is located in occupied Donetsk. According to Fedorov, there is information that there are command posts of the Russian army on the territory of two plants in Donetsk. And, as the analyst notes, it is possible that the strikes were carried out by Flamingo missiles.
"This means that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have started using them. So far, cautiously. Apparently, these are test trials, tests in combat conditions. Before firing Flamingos at Moscow or any other large city, we need to understand how they fly, how they are able to overcome air defense. How they behave at certain altitudes, how susceptible they are to the effects of electronic warfare," the expert said.
He suggests that the strike on targets in Donetsk is a harbinger of the fact that at some point the Flamingos will begin to be actively used against targets already in Russia's strategic rear. Whether the appearance of the Flamingos will affect the situation at the front, according to Fedorov, depends, in particular, on their number.
"There are reports from official sources in Ukraine that by the end of the year there will be 200 units per month. That's a lot," Fedorov stated.
He analyzes: presumably, 3-4 missiles need to be directed at each object, which means a total of 50 “points” that can be hit.
"Here are 50 military facilities - command posts, ammunition depots, including army-level ones, and perhaps even strategic arsenals," Fedorov noted. The main thing, as the analyst emphasizes, is strikes on the concentration of transport communications, which will certainly affect the delivery of ammunition to the combat zone, as well as on the Russian oil terminals in Ust-Luga, Primorsk, Novorossiysk. He added: Ukraine has the right to a symmetrical response to the strike of the Russian Iskander on the Cabinet of Ministers building.
"Why, actually, should Ukraine be prohibited from striking government buildings in Moscow? There is a war going on... If Russia allows itself to repeatedly and purposefully destroy civilian objects in Ukraine, attack government buildings, etc., why should Ukraine be deprived of this right?", Fedorov emphasized.
The expert does not rule out that after some time, the Flamingos will attack the building of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, the Federation Council, the presidential administration, or the FSB building on Lubyanka.
"It is difficult to do this with drones - drones are mostly shot down when they fly close to Moscow - there is very serious air defense there. But shooting down Flamingo cruise missiles, and possibly other missiles, is much more difficult," the analyst said.
