Orem, Utah, September 11, 2025 — Less than 24 hours after the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University, the FBI and Utah officials say they have good footage of the suspected gunman and are closing in.

According to investigators, surveillance video shows the shooter arriving on campus just before noon, blending in before making his way up stairwells and across the roof to a sniper position roughly 200 yards from the stage. Dressed in all-black tactical gear, the assailant fired a single round that struck Kirk in the neck, killing him instantly as horrified students looked on.

Federal agents revealed that a high-powered bolt-action rifle believed to be the murder weapon was recovered in a wooded area near the campus. Disturbingly, sources confirmed that investigators found messages written on both the firearm and spent shell casings, though officials have not yet disclosed their contents.

Additional evidence, including footwear impressions, a palm print, and forearm imprints, has also been collected. The FBI stressed that they are analyzing these clues and remain confident they will capture the assassin.

Authorities released new photos of a person of interest and urged anyone with information to contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI or submit photos and videos from the scene.
